Up earlier than usual as we only just crossed the time change line not far back so my body still thinks it is an hour later than the clock says. It is never a bad thing to get up early, as long as it is not too early, but I will take a look on the map to see where our next stop close to the next time zone change is going to be.
The cold front that hammered New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada with all that snow last week finally pushed through Indiana overnight and it was pouring down rain most of the night. When I woke I saw flood warnings on the weather app for the area. We are not far from the Ohio River and the landscape is gentle rolling hills with a fair number of creeks.
Saw a break in the rain coming so got buttoned up, hooked up the car and were on our way just after 0815. Being a Sunday morning the interstate was quiet so it was a very easy drive. Just about 90 minutes later we were out of the rain and stopped at a planned rest area for a break. Next stop was downtown St. Louis at the Draft Kings Casino RV Park. I think I said earlier I wanted to mix things up a bit with Harvest Host stops and RV locations. This was a good one to enable us to dump our black and gray tanks and refill the water tank.
One of the perks of staying at this RV park is you have hotel privileges for the pool and work out room so we took a walk in to check them out. While the casino grounds were hopping with people the hotel looked like its best days were somewhere back in the 90’s. Not a lot going on and the pool water was a strange shade of green which made up Pat’s mind about not wanting to go swimming.
So, instead we decided to go to the casino to spend some money. Now Pat and I are not gamblers by nature so we only ever go to the slot machines and try to pick one near the entrance to the main hall (thanks Carol). However, today we were on a different mission. Our son-in-law Matt recently lost his grandmother and she loved to play slots at the casino - any casino. So we found out the name of the slot machines she used to play (Zeus) and tried to find one. This casino has to have 500 machines and we looked everywhere but couldn’t find one. When we asked a security guard she was quick to say yes they have them and directed us to the machine. Pat managed to double her money in thirty minutes and I lost all mine in about three. Like I said, we are not big gamblers so when we got the payout on Pat’s machine we cashed out and left. Thank you Audrey.

I never knew you were so lucky at gambling, Pat!! It's a fun feeling to win something on those machines.
